Behind Vietnam's first electric cars
Welcoming the new year 2023, the atmosphere at HAAST Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd. (Dong Van I Industrial Park, Duy Tien Town, Ha Nam Province) is extremely lively these days as the company is busy preparing for new orders.
2022 can be considered a particularly successful year for HAAST Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd. As a company operating in the field of manufacturing and processing components, despite its relatively young age, after nearly four years of official operation in Ha Nam, HAAST Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd. has gradually achieved significant progress in production and business. In October 2022, the first components of an order of 20,000 automotive parts manufactured by HAAST Vietnam were shipped to Vinfast Group. According to the contract, from now until 2024, HAAST will continue to deliver 200,000 automotive parts to Vinfast.
Experts visited and highly appreciated the improvement results at HAAST after participating in the smart factory development support project.
Sharing about this success, Mr. Duong Nguyen Thanh – Deputy Executive Director of HAAST Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd. said, “To meet the requirements of Vinfast and ensure the quality of goods exported to other countries, HAAST has actively upgraded its technical skills and invested in technology to achieve optimal production efficiency.”
In May 2022, HAAST became one of the first 14 businesses to participate in the Smart Factory Development Support Project implemented by Samsung in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. This was also an opportunity to help HAAST improve efficiency, ensure high quality standards, and meet Vinfast's tight deadlines.
"After participating in this project, we have seen significant improvements thanks to strengthening our management system based on standardizing processes, which has helped reduce inventory, improve quality and reduce defect rates, improve mold changeover times, use 100% robotic product handling, reduce steps through automation, and simultaneously reduce the number of workers in unnecessary stages , thereby increasing efficiency across all production lines ," Mr. Thanh shared.
“Many customers who visited our factory were impressed and highly appreciated our infrastructure and production operation system. This has helped HAAST expand its potential customer base,” Mr. Thanh added.
With its current smart factory management system, Mr. Thanh is confident that this will be a springboard for HAAST's development, enabling it to achieve its goal of supplying high-quality products to Vinfast, and simultaneously becoming a supplier to many other large enterprises such as Ford, Hyundai, and others.
Change is the foundation for enhancing competitiveness to meet global standards .
HAAST is just one of 26 Vietnamese businesses that have participated in the Smart Factory Development Cooperation Project implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in collaboration with Samsung.
The project aims to train 100 Vietnamese experts and provide consulting and improvement support to 50 businesses applying Smart Factory technology over two years (2022-2023) to enhance the professional capabilities of domestic consulting experts and improve production operation capacity based on information technology in businesses.
Samsung Vietnam leaders directly visited and evaluated the results of the smart factory project at various businesses.
Participating in the project, experts will assess the current operational status of the enterprise's factory according to smart factory standards. Based on the assessment results, enterprises will receive consulting support to establish a smart factory.
As part of the project, Samsung will also train Vietnamese consultants in the field of smart factories through a 12-week training course, including 3 weeks of theoretical training and 9 weeks of practical training, to help experts acquire knowledge and improve their consulting capabilities related to setting up smart factories.
Specifically, during the 9-week practical training period, Vietnamese consultants, along with consultants from Samsung Korea, will directly participate in surveying, evaluating, and advising businesses on-site.
Through this project, Samsung aims to support Vietnamese businesses in enhancing their competitiveness to global standards across all processes, including research and production, thereby enabling them to participate more effectively in the supply chain, not only for Samsung but also for the global supply network.
By the end of 2022, Samsung had provided consulting and support for smart factory development to a total of 26 businesses and trained 51 consultants in the field of smart factories.
“I am very happy and proud to have witnessed firsthand the spectacular transformation of businesses after participating in the Smart Factory Development Support Project. These changes are the foundation for businesses to enhance their competitiveness to global standards across all processes such as research and production… From there, businesses have more opportunities to participate in the supply chain not only of Samsung but also the global supply network. Samsung will continue to strive to expand the program to more localities to support and accompany Vietnamese businesses, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic recovery and development in the post-COVID-19 era and promoting industrialization and modernization in the digital age,” – Mr. Choi Joo Ho – General Director of Samsung Vietnam shared.
